Abstract:
Contends that, despite its achievement of allowing the return of the voice of Holocaust survivors and their descendants, second-generation Israeli Holocaust writing, particularly novels, ultimately reflect the insufficiency of the means of representation, falling victim to the destructive powers of an ever-returning past. The works reject "redemption through narration" and testify to the lasting destructive effects of the Nazi regime, for which neither repression nor narration provides consolation or cure.
