Abstract:
States that, historically, occultism was often associated with antisemitism; occultists had a share in the genesis of "The Protocols of the Wise Men of Zion", As the epithet "wise" suggests, their antisemitism was tinged with respect for Jewish secret wisdom, but also with hostility toward a dangerous rival. Van Helsing sees almost every international organization or movement as part of a conspiracy to dominate the world, and finds Jews active in them all. However, he leaves the reader free to reject this last detail; the important point for him is the conspiracy, with or without Jews. He believes that Hitler and the Thule Gesellschaft were occultists who saw through the machinations of the Jews, but fought them with the wrong means: in their hatred, they used the same weapons they condemned in the satanic Jewish God.
