Kurzfassung:
Examines the coverage of the Eichmann affair in "al-Ahram", the premier Egyptian newspaper during the era of Gamal Abdel Nasser. Dwells on the historical context in which the trial was held, in particular the ongoing Israeli-Arab conflict and the attempts of Zionist propaganda to portray Arab nationalists as an active pro-Nazi force and heirs to Nazism. "Al-Ahram" reported the news of Eichmann's detention in Israel on 24 March 1960, the day after Ben-Gurion announced it in Israel, and continued its coverage until Eichmann's execution. Far from identifying with Nazism and sympathizing with Eichmann, the dominant tone in "al-Ahram" was one of condemning Israel's violation of international law by abducting him from Argentina and its exploitation of the affair for its goals, while insisting on the repudiation of Nazism, as well as of Zionism and antisemitism.
