Abstract:
Glauser (1896-1938) was born in Vienna, but lived throughout his life in various countries, including Switzerland, France, North Africa, and Italy (where he died). His first detective story, "Der Tee der drei alten Damen", published in 1939, has been dismissed as a trivial thriller. Contends that critics have overlooked its blunt antisemitism and have also failed to notice the more "subtle" use of antisemitic stereotypes in Glauser's unanimously acclaimed Studer-stories. Explores the antisemitic stereotypes of "Der Tee der drei alten Damen" and the Studer-novels "Die Fieberkurve" and "Die Speiche".
