Abstract:
As a social justice activist, decries antisemitism among leftists, noting that people in social justice movements fail to understand antisemitism partly because it looks different from the oppressions with which they are familiar. Jews are depicted by antisemites not as the underdog, but rather as being too powerful. The nature of anti-Jewish oppression is to blame the Jews in order to cover up the real perpetrators of social injustice. Antisemitism is a real and present danger, most visibly outside the USA at present (e.g. in the former Soviet Union, Islamic countries, and France). Calls for Jewish involvement in the struggle for justice, and seeking allies amongst non-Jews in the social justice movements to oppose antisemitism.
