Abstract:
This article discusses the military service and literary work of the Jewish poet Noah Stern during and shortly after World War II, and his attempt to give voice to Holocaust survivors in the immediate aftermath of the War. Stern first enlisted in the Jewish Brigade with the aim to collect literature written by Hebrew soldiers, however, in light of his meetings with Holocaust survivors after the war, he decided to promote their literary efforts as well. Through a review of his editorial work during this period, the literary shift from soldiers' stories to survivors' testimonies is revealed.
