Abstract:
Examines the construction of race and mixed race identities in white supremacist newsletters and periodicals published in the USA between 1969-93. In the view of these publications, mixed race people pose a particularly strong threat. Most supremacists attribute a double nature to the Jews: they are both a separate race and "mongrels." The most elaborate views, imbued with Christian theological doctrine, are expressed by the Christian Identity movement. The main danger of the Jews, in the view of the supremacists, is that while maintaining their own racial purity the Jews support and promote racial mixing among other races. Depicting the Jews as the main force behind all the equality movements (including feminists) the supremacists perpetuate the stereotype of the Jew as an innate transgressor of all natural boundaries, i.e. of the natural order.
