Abstract:
Although most of the synagogues were burned in Germany during the "Kristallnacht" pogrom, the Munich synagogue was destroyed already in June 1938 on Hitler's personal order. Hitler used to pass by this neighborhood often, and the sight of the synagogue annoyed him. The Jewish community found a provisory place for religious services, but this was discovered by the Nazis who plundered and destroyed it on November 10. On the same day, many members of the Jewish community were arrested and interned in Dachau.
