Abstract:
This article was inspired by the book by Serge Klarsfeld and Léon Tsevery, "Les 1007 fusillés du Mont-Valérien parmi lequels 147 Juifs" (1995). In the list of the Jews executed on 15 December 1941, 36 of them were born in Poland, 15 of them in Warsaw. Attempts to reconstruct the biographies of some of them. Amongst the Polish Jewish immigrants to France in the interwar period there was a certain number of communists who were active during the war in communist resistance organizations. Describes here the activities of some of them, e.g. Samuel Tyszelman, Abraham Trzebrucki, Joseph Epsztejn. Concludes (quoting Klarsfeld) that among the 75,000 Jews who were deported from France, 35% were Polish Jews.
