Abstract:
Attempts to understand why the Belgian press immediately after the war related to the victims of the genocide as Poles, Ukrainians, Lithuanians, etc., but never specified that the genocide was perpetrated against Jews. Some socialist and communist publications related the existence of extermination camps for Jews, but the major newspapers were fixated on the issue of Nazi repression of resistants and political opponents. The racial aspects of the Nazi oppression were not mentioned. Notes that it was only in the 1980s that it was acknowledged that the majority of innocent civilians killed in Belgium were Jews.
