Abstract:
A paper presented at the conference "Ethnicité et figures phobiques" (Lille, May 1987). Analyzes two autobiographical works, written in a literary vein, by Ernst von Salomon (sentenced to imprisonment for participation in the murder of Walther Rathenau). Rathenau, the scapegoat of anti-democratic nationalists, is transformed into a hero by his own executioner. Notes the subtle manipulations and distortions used by Salomon, who is obsessed by the figure of Rathenau, to cover up the antisemitic motivation of the crime.
