Abstract:
Discusses the foundation and operation of the chemical firm Degussa, which played a dominant role in the mass extermination of the Jews during the Holocaust. The directorate of the firm cooperated with the Nazi authorities from 1933 on. Pp. 27-36, "Die Degussa, das Raubgold der Reichsbank und die 'Endlösung der Judenfrage'", surveys the activities of Degussa which involved melting down the precious metals confiscated from Jews (gold wedding rings, watches, etc.). Its subsidiary, Degesch, was the leading supplier of Zyklon B gas to the extermination camps. Notes that the firm was only lightly incriminated during the postwar Nuremberg Trials.
