Abstract:
Recalls the major steps taken in the second half of the 20th century by Catholic and mainline Protestant Churches to distance themselves from their past antisemitism and to condemn it (including in its anti-Zionist form) in the present. Stresses that the Churches can now function as allies of the Jews in the battle against antisemitism. In the U.S. the level of fraternal cooperation between the Jewish community and the Christian leadership is unparelleled. States that Israel needs an interministerial body that would make a coordinated effort to improve relations with Christian communities at home and abroad.
