Abstract:
Reed was the correspondent in Central Europe until 1938 for the London "Times". He was opposed to Hitler's Nazism, but supported Otto Strasser's views. Reed believed in a conspiracy theory of history, the agents of which were Communists and Zionists. He became famous worldwide in 1938 due to his book "Insanity Fair" which warned against Hitler's Nazism and against Great Britain's appeasement policy. He was in England during the war, and moved to South Africa in 1948. After the war, Reed was one of the first antisemitic writers to deny Hitler's extermination of the Jews. His public career was over. He spent years writing his tract "The Controversy of Zion", as well as other antisemitic and racist texts (e.g. pro-colonialization of Africa).
