Abstract:
As a branch of Israelite Yahwism, Samaritanism’s rituals and practices have many similarities with Judaism, but, at the same time, the community has developed its own traditions based on its readings of the Pentateuch and its halakha developed over the centuries. The chapter gives an overview of Samaritan rituals and practices ranging from the furnishings of the synagogue and the strict observance of the rules of ritual purity to the three annual pilgrimages and the celebration of the Passover as prescribed in Exodus 12.
