Abstract: Siegfried Thalheimer (non-Jew) and Fritz Heymann (Jew) were journalists originally from Düsseldorf. Thalheimer's wife and daughter were Jewish. In 1933 the Thalheimer family and Heymann fled to the autonomous Saar region where they published an anti-Nazi weekly called."Westland". In 1934-35, when the Saar was given over to the Nazis, they fled to France. Thalheimer founded a Jewish journal in Paris. He and Heymann attacked the Nazi regime and gave support to the Jews in their writings and lectures. In 1941, the Thalheimers immigrated to the United States, where he worked at his brother-in-law's art gallery in New York. Either in 1949 or 1951, Siegfried returned to Germany, where he published two books: "Gespräch über Deutschlands" and "Die Affäre Dreyfus". His wife and daughter remained in the U.S.

In Amsterdam he wrote two works about Jews, "Der Chevalier von Geldern" (published in 1963), and the "Marannen-Chronik" (published in 1988 as "Tod oder Taufe; die Vertreibung der Juden aus Spanien und Portugal") which was based on lectures he delivered in Amsterdam.
