Abstract:
RNL EVR II B 80 is a Torah codex, quintessentially Tiberian in text and layout. Nonetheless, the masoretic notes reveal extensive and sustained influence from the Babylonian masoretic tradition. This influence can be detected in the technical terms employed in the masoretic notes, the structure of the notes themselves, and the biblical text-form implied by the content of the notes. This article serves as a preliminary report demonstrating the nature and extent of the Babylonian masoretic material in the manuscript and illustrates some of the ways in which this material can be used to consolidate and expand our existing knowledge of the Babylonian Masora.
