Abstract:
Discusses the anti-Jewish attitude of the Catholic Church in Croatia, where 80-90% of the 35,000-39,000 Jews were murdered during World War II. The highest officials of the Church, among them Archbishop Aloys Stepinac, cooperated with the Nazi occupation forces in the persecution and extermination of the Jews. They interceded only for converted Jews. Asserts that the Vatican had full knowledge of these events, but did not protest against the brutality of the Ustashas as long as they were "good Catholics". After the war, the Croatian Church extended aid to war criminals, among them to Ljubo Milos, an officer in the concentration camp Jasenovac, who himself murdered many Jews.
