Abstract:
"The policies espoused by the Herut wing of Likud served to diminish the Jewish exclusivity of the country by assuring that Israel will be not only demographically, but culturally and ideologically binational. As a result, the Arab population, within and beyond the Green Line, has become more aggressive in pursuit of its national rights and more resistant to attempts by Zionist ideologues to deny Israel's binational character. The position of the Arab states toward binationalism can be traced to Arab and Muslim concepts of nationalism and statehood, and how these evolved in response to colonialism and Zionism."
