Abstract:
Discusses how much and what kind of information the Polish authorities had about the extermination of the Jews in the camps of Bełżec, Sobibór, and Treblinka. Sources collected by civilian and military intelligence describe the functioning of these Nazi death camps and give clear evidence of organized murder. The intelligence services failed to study adequately the internal organization of the camp, the personnel, and their relations with "Operation Reinhard" headquarters. States that the sources of information were documents of the Press and Information Department, reports by Oneg Shabbat (the Ringelblum archive in the Warsaw ghetto), and Bund representatives.
