Abstract:
Discusses Bruno Apitz's novel "Nackt unter Wölfen" (1958), which relates the fate of a Jewish child who was rescued by political prisoners in the Buchenwald concentration camp, based on authentic facts. Refers, also, to the true report of Zacharias Zweig, who survived Buchenwald together with his three-year-old son Stefan Jerzy. Zweig's testimony was first collected, in Polish, for Yad Vashem in 1961; the final version appeared in German in 1987.
