Abstract:
Reflections by Konopnicki, who survived the Holocaust in Belgium as a young child. He, his sister, and his parents were sheltered by non-Jews after his 14-year-old brother was deported to Auschwitz (where he died). Konopnicki says that he identified as a Jew in the postwar period in the face of continued antisemitism, and still does so today in the face of European antisemitism, which is manifested in "politically correct" anti-Zionism. He quotes passages on these themes from the works of several contemporary French Jewish thinkers.
