Abstract:
A paper delivered at a colloquium held at the Université Stendhal (Grenoble-3). Discusses antisemitic elements in conservative and Nazi polemics against the "neue Musik", represented by Krenek, Weill, and Schoenberg among others, during the Weimar Republic. Traces how the musical debate drifted from the aesthetic to the political sphere, crystallizing into an ideology denouncing the "international Judeo-Bolshevik conspiracy" for undermining German society with "cultural Bolshevism".
