Abstract:
Traces the publication history of the "Semi-Kürschner" and its uncompleted second edition, "Sigilla Veri", biographical dictionaries of "writers, poets, bankers, financiers, physicians, actors, artists, musicians, officers, lawyers, revolutionaries, feminists, socialists, etc. of Jewish race or relation by marriage...". The men behind them were leading members of the "Deutschvölkischer Schriftstellerverband": Philipp Stauff (the main editor), Heinrich Kraeger (the main source of financial assistance), and Adolf Bartels, head of the Schriftstellerverband. They had to cope with the ire of "Aryans" erroneously included; there were also disputes about the inclusion of part-Jews who were active in the "völkisch" movement, most prominently Ernst Wachler, whom Theodor Fritsch defended as having a German soul that redeemed the Jewish blood inherited from his grandmother.
