Abstract:
Jews experienced hostility in England during World War I, mainly because of their alien origins. The loyalty of German-born Jews was questioned, and the Russian-born Jews, many of them socialists who resisted conscription, aroused much resentment, which was expressed in disturbances in Leeds in June 1917 and in the East End of London in September. The October Revolution in Russia was described by the press as a Jewish plot for world domination. Presents documents, including police reports on anti-Jewish violence, Jewish responses, German propaganda material which exploited these events, and press reports on the Revolution.
Note:
Pp. 107-115 include documents from the Public Records Office and the archives of "The Times".
