Abstract:
A paper delivered at an international conference on "The contribution of the Jews to the world of music", held in Cluj-Napoca, November 2005. Haskil, a pianist, was a Jew and a Romanian citizen living in Paris. In March 1941 she fled to the south of France. In November 1942 she received a Swiss visa at the consulate in Marseille, and arrived by train in Geneva. Relates the efforts of her Swiss friends to effect her rescue.
