Abstract:
Asserts that Oppenheimer's conviction and execution (1737) were a judicial murder, accompanied by massive antisemitic propaganda. The false accusations against him were transmitted in "scholarly" as well as literary works, beginning with Wilhelm Hauff's short novel of 1827, through even Feuchtwanger's novel of 1925, Veit Harlan's Nazi film of 1940, to a play by Klaus Pohl of 1999 that caused a scandal, portraying Oppenheimer as a sex maniac. Haasis has himself written a biography, a biographical novel, and a radio drama on Oppenheimer.
