Abstract:
The staff of "La Revue blanche", an intellectual, leftist and avant-garde French journal, included many Jewish intellectuals, like Léon Blum, Bernard Lazare, L. Benda and others. Being assimilated and non-religious, they perceived their Jewishness as a matter of culture rather than religious faith, and opposed themselves to practicing Jews, as well as to the Jewish "bourgeoisie". Some of their notions on Jews and Judaism came close to those of French antisemites. It was the Dreyfus Affair which made them rethink their perception of the world and also their Jewish identity.
