Abstract: "The Karaite Creed & Discourse on slaughter is the first complete critical edition of the Six Principles of Faith and Regulations of Slaughter of the 14th century Karaite Israel ben Samuel ha-Dayyan ha-Maʻaravi (Arabic: al-Maghribī). These texts are presented in their original Judaeo-Arabic with a new English translation. Ha-Maʻaravi's works had a profound impact on Karaite Jewish life in Egypt even into the 20th century, when the local community produced Arabic-script editions of the Six Principles and the Regulations of slaughter. This volume also includes the Arabic-script version of ha-Maʻaravi's works, and a Hebrew version of his Regulations of Slaughter that has circulated widely since the medieval period.--Back cover

Abstract: Tanḥum ha-Yerushalmi's life and works -- Tanḥum's biblical exegesis in context -- Tanḥum's commentary to the Book of Jonah -- Tanḥum's commentary to Qohelet -- Tanḥum's commentary to the Song of Songs.
Abstract: "Tanḥum b. Joseph ha-Yerushalmi (d. 1291, Fusṭaṭ, Egypt) was a rigorous linguist and philologist, philosopher and mystic, and a biblical exegete of singular breadth. As well as providing us with an insight into the inner world of a profound and original thinker, his oeuvre sheds light on a Jewish historical and cultural milieu that remains relatively poorly understood: the Islamic East in the post-Maimonidean period. In A Philosopher of Scripture: The Exegesis and Thought of Tanḥum ha-Yerushalmi, Raphael Dascalu presents the first detailed intellectual portrait of Tanḥum ha-Yerushalmi. Tanḥum emerges as a polymath with a clear intellectual program, an eclectic thinker who brought multiple traditions together in his search for the philosophical meaning of Scripture"--

Abstract: "A magisterial, modern reading of the deepest mysteries in the Kabbalistic tradition. Seekers of the Face opens the profound treasure-house at the heart of Judaism's most important mystical work: the Idra Rabba (Great Gathering) of the Zohar. This is the story of the Great Assembly of mystics called to order by the master teacher and hero of the Zohar, Rabbi Shim'on bar Yochai, to align the divine faces and to heal Jewish religion. The Idra Rabba demands a radical expansion of the religious worldview, as it reveals God's faces and bodies in daring, anthropomorphic language. For the first time, Melila Hellner-Eshed makes this challenging, esoteric masterpiece meaningful for everyday readers. Hellner-Eshed expertly unpacks the Idra Rabba's rich grounding in tradition, its probing of hidden layers of consciousness and the psyche, and its striking, sacred images of the divine face. Leading readers of the Zohar on a transformative adventure in mystical experience, Seekers of the Face allows us to hear anew the Idra Rabba's bold call to heal and align the living faces of God"--
