Abstract:
Analyzes the text of the patent application submitted by Drs. Bernard Hollinger and Oscar Jolles on 30 May 1933 and granted on 15 February 1935 in Vienna. The authors proposed to produce the pebbles which are commonly left on Jewish graves after a visit, from soluble materials. Analysis of the text of the application shows that, except for the first paragraph, it speaks not about pebbles, but about tombstones. One of the applicants seems to be antisemitic, and in fact this patent proposed a sophisticated method for the desecration of Jewish graves (e.g. the dissolution of the tombstones), aiming to destroy the final record of buried Jews.
