Abstract:
Pp. 298-301 describe Ford's propagation, in the "Dearborn Independent" and in the compilation "International Jew, " of his theory of a world Jewish conspiracy. Hitler took over many of Ford's ideas in "Mein Kampf." Suggests that "The International Jew, " very popular in Germany, also helped make the German public receptive to Nazism. Ford himself, however, did not advocate measures against the Jews; he held that they must reform themselves. Pp. 302-303, "Der pazifistische Faschist, " trace Ford's antisemitism to the failure of his peacemaking efforts in the First World War; he grasped at the explanation that Jewish financiers were responsible. On p. 306, points out that Ford attributed to the Jews what he saw as the ills of modern society, which were actually results of his own auto industry: urbanization, consumerism, reliance on credit, sexual license.
