Abstract:
States that Michel Foucault regretted that the section in his work "La volonte de savoir" (1976) on racism, Nazism, and power had not stimulated discussion and, had he lived, he would have developed the links between his history of sexuality in Western culture and the rise of racism. Examines Foucault's ideas on this subject, linking them with Freudian psychoanalysis. On pp. 138-140 applies Foucault's political ethic to the subject of Nazism, suggesting that the Holocaust was not a revolt against Western morality and values, but an expression of some of its elements. The Christian aspiration to religious purification was transformed by the Nazis into a mission of racial purification. Shows this process as reflected in Himmler's diary.
