Abstract:
Discusses several plays by Spanish playwright and novelist Max Aub (1903-1972) which deal with the plight of the Jews during the Nazi period. Aub was born in Paris and immigrated with his parents to Spain in 1914. He spent the years 1934-42 in jails and concentration camps in France and Algeria for being a communist. In 1942, he immigrated to Mexico. Aub's subject matter and sensitiveness toward Jews, and his mother's maiden name, Mohrenwitz, lead Klein to conclude that he was Jewish.
