Abstract:
Based on the author's book of the same title (Paris: Cerf, 1990). Analyzes the diary of Johann Paul Kremer, a Nazi physician who served in Auschwitz in August-November 1942, which records his participation in the selections of Jews, and his presence as an observer of their extermination in the gas chambers. After the war, this document was utilized against Kremer at his trial. Its context was misinterpreted and its validity contested by French revisionist historian Robert Faurisson. Focuses on the deliberately elliptical Nazi language used by Kremer, which is exploited and distorted in Faurisson's interpretation.
