Abstract:
The views presented in this article are based on the author's book "Filosofim mul penei ha-Shoah" (Tel-Aviv, 1990). See the response by Zeev Levy, "Filosofim be-Yisrael ve-ha-Shoah" [in "International Problems" 30, 3-4 (1991) 59-63], in which he contends that Silfen has confused the truly deplorable neglect of the philosophy of the Frankfurt School (especially that of Adorno and Horkheimer) in Israeli philosophical literature with the latter's "alienation from the Holocaust", which is not in fact true. States that if a philosopher deals with subjects other than the Holocaust (as Silfen himself has done) this does not mean that the Holocaust is marginalized or forgotten. See, also, Silfen's reply in vol. 31, 1-2 (1992) 77-78.
