Abstract:
Reports on German research in Jewish studies during the Weimar and Nazi periods, focusing on the works of Kuhn. Notes that, from 1932 through World War II, his publications consisted of antisemitic Nazi propaganda. Kuhn joined the Nazi party in 1932; in April 1933 he organized a boycott of Jewish stores in Tübingen, where he taught at the university. He repeatedly criticized Jews and Judaism in his writings, and in 1940 he participated in field research in Warsaw in preparation for the Final Solution. After the war he downplayed his Nazi activities and was exonerated. Analyzes and refutes some of the accusations made by Kuhn and by other German researchers in their works, including ritual murder and host desecration.
