Abstract:
Discusses the assumption that the Holocaust cannot be represented as it really was and as historiographical methodology and exactness require, suggesting that less exacting criteria might be acceptable. Advocates the use of survivors' memoirs, even though they portray only the unique experience of an individual and moreover inevitably err in details, to flesh out academic history based on faceless bureaucratic documents.
