Abstract:
The occupational group of German Jews who suffered first from discrimination were the lawyers and members of the judicial administration. In Berlin, 51% of the lawyers were Jewish. The law of 7 April 1933 excluded many non-Aryan lawyers from the Bar Association. Some Jewish lawyers were murdered by SA mobs between March-May 1933. Emphasizes the role of Hans Frank, as Bavarian Minister of Justice, in disseminating anti-Jewish propaganda. The Nuremberg Laws, according to which Jewish lawyers were not allowed to practice, aggravated the situation. Mentions the deportations of 1941, including German Jewish lawyers, to extermination camps. Pp. 1001-1010 contain official documents and letters regarding the discriminatory laws against Jewish lawyers.
