Abstract:
This article engages with an eight-line Greek inscription within a tabula ansata, found in the Samaria region, but whose exact provenance is unknown. It can be assumed that the origin of the inscription, engraved on a limestone column, is from Samaria-Sebaste. The text describes the erection and payment of the expenses of a votive bronze statue in honour of Poseidon by a son and his father, both councillors (bouleutai), in the early seventies of the 4th century CE.
