Abstract:
"Courage to Care" is a student-centered program developed by B'nai B'rith and supported by the New South Wales Department of Education and Training. It is a travelling exhibition which has been operating in New South Wales since 1998. The three-part program includes an exhibition, a survivor story, and a workshop that attempts to make the experience relevant to the issue of tolerance today. Although the focus is on rescuers, in order to emphasize that one person can make a difference, children's reactions indicate that the greatest impression is made by the personal stories of survivors. The children tend to heroize the survivors more than the rescuers. Notes that one problem with the program is that the students hardly encounter the experiences of those who did not survive.
