Abstract:
Contends that antisemitism has increased amongst Blacks in France in the wake of the Black comedian Dieudonné's openly anti-Jewish skits. Black Muslims have attacked Jewish youth in Paris, Lyon, and Villeurbanne. Since the eruption of the second Intifada in the year 2000, they identify with the Palestinians and view the Jews as the obstacle to their integration in French society. The revival in Black circles of the myth of the Jews as greedy capitalists has even led to murder. In 2006 a young Jew, Ilan Halimi, was murdered in Paris by a Black gang. The perpetrators complained that he had money, while they themselves were slaves in France. Surveys show that antisemitic prejudice is particularly widespread amongst Turkish and African immigrants, regardless of their political affiliation, social status, age, or academic degree.
