Abstract:
Analyzes the reasons for the reluctance of German historians to write about the Nazi period between 1945-1961. Pp. 195-198 discuss the Jewish aspects of National Socialism's history, explaining that many German historians had cooperated with the Nazi system and felt unable to describe Nazi anti-Jewish policy or the Holocaust. The German public was informed about what happened to the Jews only by the press or through reports from the war crimes trials. Mentions a few publications on this subject written in the 1950s. Following the Eichmann trial, the subject of Nazi antisemitism and persecution of the Jews began to interest the German public.
