Kurzfassung:
The Wolf-Trio, later Wolf Brothers, began performing in Hamburg in 1895. Their family name was Isaac, but was changed to Wolf in 1924 due to fear of antisemitism. Although the three brothers were Jews, they portrayed antisemitic stereotypes in their songs and sketches, perhaps so as not to be identified as Jews. Leopold died in 1926; Ludwig survived the war thanks to his Aryan spouse; and James, who left the troupe in 1906, died in Theresienstadt in 1943.
