Abstract:
The idea of reforming religion seems to involve good arguments for and against. Anything can surely be done better if we look closely at it and see how we might adapt it to more modern times and conditions. On the other hand, surely what God tells us to do should not change, since He is a perfect lawgiver and knows precisely how times will change. His law should remain constant throughout all such changes. The Reform movement as it has come to be known in Judaism works very much with the idea that everything has to change to fit in with where we are now, including religion. It is very much this idea, that religion can and should be reformed, that is discussed in this chapter.
