Abstract:
Judaism has a very extensive set of traditions and rituals for responding to the reality of death, dying and mourning. These rituals help families cope with grief and provide comfort in dealing with the journey of bereavement. Understanding the elements of practice as well as the psychological and spiritual function of the various rituals provides the dying and bereaved and their families a powerful system for recovering from grief and loss.
