Abstract: Based on observations in the Old Babylonian Mari letters, the Balaam inscription, Neo-Assyrian and ancient Greek oracles, the suspected long-term process of the emergence of Israelite prophetic writings is questioned despite the textual variants which are testified to especially in Qumran. Israelite prophets stuck with their lives to the reliability of the divine message, so they were anxious for their trustworthy messages to be written down. For actualizations and new contextualizations there was no need for any changes. As examples of how prophecies were written down I used Haggai, Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel.
