Abstract:
Article looks at the architectural legacy of the Jewish community in the Subcarpathian (Podkarpackie) voivodship, by presenting the synagogues that have survived in Jarosław. An architectural analysis of the Large Synagogue and Small Synagogue buildings is preceded by a brief presentation of the history of Jarosław and of the local Jewish community, the state of research into these matters as well as the general situation with regard to the preserved synagogue resources in Podkarpacie. The authors just show a segment of the studies carried out in this respect. The authors draw attention to the technical condition and cultural value of the buildings. To this day they constitute an important of the town’s cultural heritage and are evidence of the once vibrant presence of the Jewish community in the town.
