Abstract: Describes the contribution of Camilla Wedgwood (1901-1955), the British anthropologist, to help settle German Jewish refugees in Australia. Wedgwood had a position at the University of Sydney since 1932, and also did research in Papua New Guinea. She was an adviser to the government on its policy toward Papua New Guinea. Discusses her attempts to influence government policy in regard to receiving Jewish refugees from Germany, a policy which was based on antisemitic prejudice toward the Jews who were viewed as a non-assimilable, parasitc group of people.
