Intertextuality in the Bible
Abstract:
Current research does not tend to focus on comparing inner biblical parallel texts, neither when working on the synchronic exegesis of the present version of the text, nor when studying the text's former literary stages diachronically. The present article outlines the intertextuality between Num 32:1-33 and Dtn 3:18-20 and contrasts the results with those of a comparison between Num 32:1-33 and Jos 1:12-15. Thereby it shows the advantages of working with intertextual relationships. This is demonstrated for both the reconstruction of former literary stages of present texts as well as for working exegetically with the present state of the text itself.
