Abstract: A contribution to the current debate in Germany regarding Jewish circumcision. Emphasizes the fact that, since antiquity, non-Jewish opposition to circumcision has gone hand-in-hand with violent antisemitism. Contemporary calls in Germany to forbid the procedure, in the name of the rights of Jewish children, ring hollow against the backdrop of the Jews' brutal murder in the Holocaust. Examples from history illustrate the importance of the ritual act even in the face of death. Concludes that those who want to forbid circumcision in fact want the Jews to cease to exist. However much they claim that their "solution" is an antidote to antisemitism, the fate of the greatly assimilated German Jews in the Shoah prove the opposite.
